Dunkirk's historic side
The centre of Dunkirk has a real maritime feel.
Again, most of the communities along the coast have this but I do see how each marina looks distinct. The boats in Dunkirk seemed quite grand and many of the fishing and pleasure crafts have french flags waving in the wind at either the front of the boat or the stern.
Throughout Dunkirk there’s the classic old, red brick buildings where you’ll find coffee shops with terraces and a new mall with a Sephora and Flying Tiger Copenhagen (I could do a whole post on this amazing store.)
There’s a stunning cathedral and belfry that has just as much beauty and stature as those you’d find in any big city.
The city also felt young and I’m guessing a lot of people move there to go to university.
We took some time to go to Museum Dunkerque 1940 Operation Dynamo and as you’d expect it was moving and an important piece of history to try and absorb.
We took the train home because it is faster than the bus and after a full day of sightseeing we felt eager to get home.
Dunkirk was well worth the trip.

Flying Tiger is amazing!
